Clamp a locking pliers or a c clamp to the track just above one of the rollers.

Garage doors open and close by moving along the metal tracks on either side.
One end has a tip that fits perfectly inside the cable drum.
To fix your garage door cables you ll want to release the tension of the springs by lifting the door.
Put it inside the drum and wind it tightly on the cable drum.
To start your repairs look at the metal tracks to determine is there is anything that could be preventing the door from moving smoothly.
Don t yank or jerk on the rope or you could damage the opener.
This will prevent the door from shooting up and breaking your nose when you wind the new springs during an overhead garage door repair.
Make sure you have the garage door closed when you re undertaking the garage door cable repair.
