As i mentioned in another thread i m trying to replace my old kenmore garbage disposal with a new model since the old one won t work.
Garbage disposal mounting ring stuck.
Turn clockwise until the disposal is locked into place.
Make sure the disposal outlet faces the drain pipe connection.
So now i m trying to remove the rusted ring and the flange.
There are generally three screws that are used to hold the disposal to the flange.
I had trouble getting the rusted metal ring to move to remove the old unit but i finally got that stubborn sob to turn and the disposal is off.
When there is a problem with the garbage disposal chances are very good that you will need to remove it from the flange in order to work on it or replace it.
Insert a screwdriver or disposal wrench into the mounting bracket on the lower mounting ring.
On sep 30 2010.
Always use tongs or needle nose pliers to remove an object.
Never place your hand in the disposal.
A garbage disposal flange is the part of the unit that connects it to the underside of the sink drain.
If a disposer needs to be removed simply tapping on the ear with a hammer will quite easily loosen the lower mounting ring.
Turn the lower ring clockwise until the disposal is supported by the mounting assembly.
